Workplace Accessibility Training

Accessible Communication and Inclusive Meetings

Helping everyone understand, participate and contribute

Two people stand behind a glass wall covered in orange and blue sticky notes, discussing ideas. One, a white woman with short grey hair, holds a piece of paper and a marker, while the other, a black man with a slightly greying goatee, holds a pencil near their mouth, appearing deep in thought. A plant is visible in the background, and the setting looks like a bright, informal workspace.

Clear communication helps employees understand expectations, share ideas, make informed decisions and collaborate effectively with colleagues. However, lengthy emails, unclear instructions, inaccessible materials, unstructured meetings and expectations to respond immediately can unintentionally create barriers to effective communication.

Accessible Communication and Inclusive Meetings: Helping Everyone Understand, Participate and Contribute helps employees, managers and teams communicate more effectively and create meeting environments where everyone can participate.

Participants explore written, verbal, digital and face-to-face communication, including how people may process and respond to information differently. The course also examines the full meeting journey: from invitations, agendas and materials through to facilitation, virtual and hybrid participation, decision-making and follow-up.

The focus is on simple, practical changes that improve understanding, collaboration and participation without adding unnecessary complexity.
